The Further Foundation's award will support BGC's new workforce and technology center.
Lincoln, NE – The Further Foundation recently granted $26,500 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County in support of a new workforce and technology center. The center will be located at North Star High School, where Boys & Girls Club is collaborating with Duncan Aviation to stand up a new facility. The facility, which will be a shared space between the two organizations, will be used for Duncan Aviation’s new aviation focus program and for Boys & Girls Club’s after school programming.
Founded in 2021, The Further Foundation provides opportunity to inspiring non-profit organizations that support and improve the lives of Nebraskans. They support non-profit organizations that are exploring ways to improve the community and the lives of Nebraskans. The Further Foundation completed their inaugural round of grant awards this summer.
“The Boys & Girls Club team is really excited to be a recipient of The Further Foundation’s first round of awards. We’re grateful for the ways they’re investing in Lincoln,” says Executive Director Kimberly Goins. “Over the past year, we put an emphasis on workforce development and helping youth discover their strengths and explore possible careers. This partnership will open some valuable opportunities for kids. We’re excited about the potential.”
Boys & Girls Club plans to be running programs out of their workforce and technology center by fall 2022. In collaboration with Duncan Aviation, the largest privately owned business jet service provider in the world, Boys & Girls Club will be introducing students to the world of aeronautics. They will also offer classroom lessons, hands-on courses, work-based learning and access to higher education opportunities. Boys & Girls Club seeks to provide high-quality programming to all kids, where cost is not a barrier to entry.
