Welcome, Deena and John! Includes photos of Deena and John, new to the Boys & Girls Club team.

Boys & Girls Club is very excited to announce the arrival of two new program directors!

John Harris Jr. will be our new program director at North Star High School. He has a bachelor’s degree from Benedictine College in business management and recently received a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in youth development. John is great at helping people create processes that ultimately lead to creating good habits. He enjoys working with all ages of youth and loves to help people reach their full potential.

“My father runs a non-profit here in Lincoln, and I have had the opportunity to work closely with him to serve the families in the Lincoln community for many years. During the start of COVID-19, we were able to raise money to create care packages for people in need,” John says. “I am excited for the impact we will be able to make in the lives of young people here in Lincoln.”

Dr. Deena Curtis is our new program director at Park Middle School. Deena earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in athletic administration and sport management from Wayne State College. She also holds a doctoral degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in educational administration. Deena has been involved in student services through athletic medicine, college prep and youth programming for over 20 years.

“I’m excited to work with an organization that promotes the enrichment of children. I think with my experience, I can provide the passion needed to fill that role,” says Deena. “I want to help children reach their potential and go forth and be successful.”

Kate, our previous program director at Park Middle School, accepted a new position at Lincoln Community Learning Centers! Kate has been a rockstar at developing top-notch curriculum for Boys & Girls Club. We're sad to see her go, but BGC is a Community Learning Center itself, so we'll still get to collaborate with her in new and exciting ways.

The BGC team is looking forward to starting a new school year together! Stay tuned to see the exciting things we have planned for this year.
