The new display at the Nebraska History Museum spotlights talented young artists.
Lincoln, NE — Boys & Girls Club at Park Middle School is observing Women's History Month in new and exciting ways this March! At the beginning of the month, Boys & Girls Club members at Park Middle School were able to attend a webinar led by Kat Wiese, a local artist, and Ina Bhoopalam, founder of Girl Up LPS.
Wiese and Bhoopalam explored the Nebraska History Museum’s new women’s suffrage exhibit and covered topics including the women’s suffrage flag and the 2018 Women’s March. Students also learned about Louise Pound, an American linguist, college professor and namesake of Pound Hall at the University of Nebraska.
After the webinar, Boys & Girls Club members were invited to contribute artwork for the Nebraska History Museum's window display. Students designed and painted three banners that will be featured at the museum through the end of the month.
The window display is part of the History Nebraska project. The project's purpose is shown beside the featured artwork:
"History Nebraska is excited to celebrate and recognize our state's diverse history. Each month, our teams will collaborate with groups, organizations and presenters from across Nebraska. As inspiration, we will share artifacts and stories from the past and connect those stories to the present. This artwork is a reflection of that inspiration as we look forward to the future of our great state."
The Nebraska History Museum is located near the corner of Centennial Mall and P Street—take a look at Boys & Girls Club’s artwork in action!
