Kingery Construction Co. Forges Partnership with Boys & Girls Club of Lincoln

Kingery Construction has worked on projects in Lincoln including the state capitol and the Lied Center for Performing Arts. Now, they're impacting Lincoln in a new way.

Lincoln, NE — Kingery Construction Co. is announcing their new nonprofit partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County this month. As Kingery approaches their hundredth year in business, their staff decided to give back to the community in a new, meaningful way.

“The Boys & Girls Club team is delighted to be working with Kingery,” says Executive Director Kimberly Goins. “Over the past year, we put an emphasis on workforce development and helping youth discover their strengths and explore possible careers. This could open some valuable opportunities for kids looking for a career in the construction industry. We’re excited about the potential.”

Kingery Construction Co. is also looking forward to a successful partnership. President Rod Berens shared how the Kingery staff chose to join forces with Boys & Girls Club:

As Kingery celebrates nearly 100 years, we have not wanted to rest on our success. As an organization, we determined that this year our focus would be our commitment to the community, specifically, the youth in Lincoln. As individuals, we had served the youth in some capacity, yet, as an organization, we had not set a goal to serve. We wanted to do more than write a check. We truly wanted to provide an opportunity for effectively helping the youth of tomorrow, especially those in need.

While doing our research, we read the first line of the Boys & Girls Club vision: “Provide a world-class Club Experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who enters our doors,” and it truly hit home. These Clubs can empower youth to reach their full potential and succeed beyond their dreams. We challenge ourselves and our employees daily to reach our full potential and know the value of that, both personally and professionally.

Kingery and Boys & Girls Club are already planning for the future of their partnership. Kingery plans to assist with the growth of Boys & Girls Club’s Little Free Pantry network by engaging students in the building and construction process of new pantries. Long term, the organizations hope to work together to implement construction-focused curriculum at the Clubs to let youth explore career opportunities in the construction industry.
