The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County (BGC) is to empower all youth to reach their full potential. We advocate for them to have equitable opportunities to participate and succeed in all organizations and workplaces—especially our own.
With our mission in mind, BGC applies principles of equity and inclusion to guide our policies, practices and procedures. We seek to develop and implement programs that support youth, employees and families of every race, ethnicity, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, ability, socioeconomic status, citizenship status and religion.
This is an ongoing process that challenges us to listen to those who may not have been heard and commit our organization to learn and grow. When we do this, we empower not only our youth but the families, staff and communities that make up Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County.
Together, we strive to ensure Great Futures for all youth in our community.
This equity statement follows Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s position on diversity, equity and inclusion that was published last year. Many local, community-based chapters of the national organization released similar statements throughout 2020. BGC Lincoln’s statement was crafted by staff members to align with their mission to empower all youth to reach their full potential.
